Tender Frequencies

Tender Frequencies is the first major New York solo exhibition for Ama Boateng, whose paintings have garnered attention for their luminous surfaces and psychological depth.

Working in oil on linen, Boateng builds up layers of pigment over weeks — scraping back, repainting, allowing traces of previous states to remain visible. The resulting works have a quality of accumulation, of time held in material.
